Mu Beta Psi, National Honorary Musical Fraternity is a co-ed music service fraternity with Chapters at universities throughout the eastern United States.
Founded in 1925 at North Carolina State University by the director of bands, Major Percy Walter "Daddy" Price, this group began as a male-only, honorary fraternity for colleges lacking a music major. It spread early to several colleges throughout the southern United States.
In 1961, Mu Beta Psi expanded eligibility requirements to admit women. The Fraternity now has seven active collegiate Chapters at institutions both with and without music majors, throughout the eastern half of the United States.
Chapters pride themselves on providing service to their school's music department, their school at large, and the surrounding community. Several Chapters also run scholarship programs and provide service awards.
